METHODOLOGY PROBLEMS

3-13 6904
Abstract

The paper investigates the qualitative and quantitative research methods, their application fields, advantages and limitations. The author argues that, in spite of the high capabilities of modern mathematical apparatus and information technologies, the qualitative research methods still retain their priority in pedagogy. The examples of comparative experimental analysis are given demonstrating the lack of universality typical of the quantitative methods.

Both methods are generally applied as the separate procedures; however, there are some modern research methods integrating the above approaches. The paper demonstrates such integration by means of the Seman- tic Differential Method implemented in the students’ creativity studies in the Grammar school of Tyumen State University. The research materials can be of interest to specialists in education and pedagogy exploring the students’ creative abilities.

Abstract

The paper considers the current concepts of human subject as a theoretical methodological basis for exploring the spatial and temporal characteristics of personal self-fulfillment in vocational educational environment. The human subject is regarded as a system capable of cognition and conversion of other systems in accordance with the personal logic of functioning and development.

The author defines the psychological concept of human subject referring to the indeterminism theory and inner development logic, and broadens the above concept applying the categories of limitations and limitlessness as a combination of realizable and potential aspects. The methodological bases and existing theoretical concepts of the human subject are given. The main objective involves realization of his temporal and spatial organization. The paper summarizes the ideas of space and time in social and psychological sciences. Abstract

The paper is devoted to the necessity of using the provocative methods in pedagogy regarding them as the most effective ones in education focused on fighting the corruption. Both the social theory and human experience demonstrate that we have to change people’s consciousness and start it as early as possible in order to overcome corruption.

Farelli as the conceptual basis for the research, and considers the corruption phenomenon as the national disease that requires immediate treatment. The provocative methods can be used for identifying the corruption attitudes, emphasizing their irrational nature and getting rid of them. The paper describes the sequence of recommended stages of the above method application and gives some examples of pedagogic provocations.

The author argues that pedagogic provocation is a perspective method stimulating personality development which requires further investigation and discussion.

Abstract

The paper looks at the specialists training for teaching the Basics of Secular Ethics course in the secondary school. In author’s opinion, the above course is entitled to develop children’s moral consciousness. The subject is practical rather than descriptive, focused on the spiritual work, and teaching how to live in harmony with themselves and the surrounding world.

The author emphasizes the difference between the secular and religious ethics related to the specificity of moral consciousness - based either on the principle of personal moral autonomy or theonomy in case of the religious ethics. The problematic task of developing the morally independent personality in the modern society is complicated by the confusion of ethics and etiquette, wide spread ideas of pluralism, relativism, infantilism and sense gratification. The challenges and inner contradictions of the given educational module are revealed in dealing with such concepts as the mercy and moral ideal. In conclusion, the author points out the significance of active positions of teachers and students alike in pursuing the Secular Ethics course.
