CONSULTATIONS
The aim of the research is to demonstrate the junior pupils' skills development in still life drawing. Being related to the child's cognitive abilities, well-developed linear space perception positively affects the personality and readiness for various activities. Therefore, pupils' acquaintance with the basics of still life drawing in arts classes has both the aesthetic and psychological and intellectual benefits.
Methodology is based on the analysis of theoretical concepts of art criticism, psychological and pedagogical works on developing artistic and creative skills of junior pupils, along with the teaching problems of picturing the space in still life drawings. The author carried out the research and experimental work in the Omsk comprehensive schools to identify the age evolution of children's still life drawings.
The research results denote the following development stages of junior pupils' skills related to still life picturing: the first stage – still life objects are aligned to the lower paper edge; the second stage – objects are placed on a horizontal line above the lower paper edge, the object plane being parallel to it; the third stage – still life objects are aligned to a single line with the spatial representations of the object planes pictured as a slightly inclined line dividing the paper below the middle of the sheet; the fourth stage – objects are pictured on different heights (above or below each other), the object plane is pictured with two lines reflecting the perspective; the fifth stage – still life objects are pictured on different heights, object overlapping being common and the perspective reflection of the object planes pictured with two or three lines; the sixth stage – objects are placed on different levels, overlapping being obligatory and a multilevel object planes possible.
Scientific novelty implies a systematic analysis, description and illustration of development stages of space picturing in children's still life drawings. Acquisition of the drawing literacy by junior pupils according to the above stagers makes a foundation for fostering the spatial perception – a skill necessary for learning the basics of linear perspective.
Practical value is related to the impact of theoretical and practical aspects of the still life drawing that can be used by the arts teachers in the primary school for developing the basic and higher level tasks complying with the new educational standards.
PSYCHOLOGICAL RESEARCH
The paper is devoted to the problems of students' social and professional mobility in the post-industrial society, given the dynamism and uncertainty of future career prospects, and variability and multidimensionality of individual career trajectories.
The research is aimed at defining the phenomenon of social and professional mobility, determining factors of professional growth, and functional structural characteristics of mobility development.
The scientific novelty involves the author's interpretation and conceptual analysis of students’ socio-professional mobility, and its contribution to the future professional growth. The author considers both the objective and subjective factors affecting the uncertainty of students' professional future: objective factors include socio-economic conditions of postindustrial society, systems of vocational education and guidance; subjective factors deal with the intrapersonal conflicts of professional self-determination, discrepancy of socio-professional orientation, and low auto-competency level.
The research findings reveal the structure and characteristic features of students' social and professional mobility: psycho-physiological qualities, cognitive abilities, socio-professional experience and orientation, as well as the negative impact factors. Based on the content analysis and expert evaluation, the author singles out and defines the key characteristics of students’ mobility: adaptability, initiative, innovativeness, learning ability, behavioral flexibility, reflexivity and excessive activity.
Practical significance: the research outcomes provide the ground for extrapolation of students' career prospects in vocational schools, career counseling and job placement centers.
CULTURE STUDIES
The aim of the research is to explore the development dynamics of the ≪humanitarian culture≫ concept, single out the ways of its renewal, and specify the origins of personal humanitarian culture.
The methods include the theoretical analysis of existing viewpoints on the given issue, formalization of related characteristics, and observation of motivating attitudes to reality. The research is based on the ideas of A. Moles related to cultural socio-dynamics.
The research findings prove the discrepancy between the humanitarian and technocratic, cultural and civilizational attitudes to reality, and consider the humanitarian culture as a personified socio-cultural characteristic rather than cultural context.
Scientific novelty includes identification of development dynamics of the ≪humanitarian culture≫ concept, the ways for updating its content, and the effect on education development.
Practical significance of the present study lies in developing the theoretical tools for further empirical research in the process of personal humanitarian culture formation, and ways for activating the theoretical components of teacher training both in the postgraduate education system and self-studying.
DIDACTIC ISSUES
Abstract. The aim of the publication is to demonstrate the implementation results of the “Mathematics, Psychology, Intellect” (MPI) educational project used for selecting and devising the new textbook content for multipurpose learning activities and students’ intellect development in comprehensive schools.
The methodology, based on the psycho-didactic approach, involves the analysis of the existing experience of textbooks development, including the traditional reference and narrative books, and the ones, organized as a dialogue with a student-reader and oriented toward the facts comprehension and reasoning. In the context of the reader-oriented theory, the author proves the advantages of special developmental materials complying with the enrichment model.
Research results describe mathematical textbooks and learning materials development for secondary schools including students’ books, practicum and workbooks for independent study, and computer software for the 5 to 9th –year students. Secondly, the authors denote the psycho-didactic typology of and requirements for developmental texts.
Scientific novelty is related to the specificity of the given academic texts, conveying the structure of the formal mathematical knowledge on the one hand, and on the other hand - developing the basic components of students’ mental experience (including cognitive, conceptual, metacognitive and intentional ones), and creating the conditions for exercising the individual cognitive styles.
Practical significance results from activating the individual intellectual resources of school leavers, developing their learning ability and readiness for the future innovative professional and personal life.
